We made the white collar, which Ellie has been wearing for the last two years, in the summer of 2017. We wanted Ellie to match perfectly on our wedding day and complete our wedding trio – bride Petra, groom Martin, and our Ellie. As she celebrated her 10th birthday in the spring, we decided to make our pensioner a young stunner. Thus we made a new piece from red – Ferrari like shade – cowhide for her. So we can finally deny the saying, “The Shoemaker´s child goes barefoot.” Our limping arthritic Ellie goes barefoot anyway but stuns with a new shiny collar 🙂

Beef leather doesn’t like water at all. Just like human skin. Water dries out leather, causing it to harden, change texture, crack. The best way to maintain and care for a leather product is by using a leather care product. Preferably a balm composed of fat, and beeswax additives. The fat lubricates the leather, and the beeswax then acts as an impregnating filter on the surface. It does not let in as much water. It is therefore best to treat the product with a balm before the first soak. If it does get wet, it is important to let the product dry naturally. Not in the sun, not on the heater, etc. And after such drying, the product needs to be re-impregnated.
Skin tones are approximate and may vary slightly. This depends on the type of leather used. Also on the color of the device display used. Natural shades also darken over time.
We made this collar for our Ellie. She is the one who represents the spirit of Dogmount. Ellie has always been the inspiration, meaning, and drive behind our work. She is in the heart of every collar we make.
